How many drivers can annouce their retirement during their victory speech. Sadly the vistory was tarnished by a stupid penalty to Alonso. Why would Alonso be interested in blocking MAssa anyway...? This was a big mistake for F1. I mean Schumi deserved his penalty with parking the car on the streets of Monaco when Alonso was on his last chance for pole... This was just a bad make-up call.
But nonetheless Schumi's retirement announcement was timed perfectly - Timed for a race where he had a good chance of being on top of podium.
Schumi career is filled with controversy - at least one big one every year - BUT the way he decided to call it quits. The timing and the was he decided to annouce was a class act. Schumi is living legend and for him to continue and using more and more tricks up the sleeve to stay competitive would just take away from his glorious career.
Schumi I hereby forgive you. One day I'd like to see a documentary however about all your racing controversies - there are quite a few of them.
Michael Schumaher - Thanks - you are the best there ever was and ever will be.
