One of the more bizarre F1 races I have seen either live or on TV in my 59 years....... Right after the finish, I emailed Massimo at Toro Rosso to offer my congratulations for the teams first F1 point and also Scott Speed's as well....... then I wake up this morning to find that Speed was a tad "too speedy" during one of the many re-starts and with his 25 second penalty he and Toro Rosso remain pointless...... I have no problem with that but I do wonder how Ralf wasn't in the same boat?? I will assume that Charlie reviewed all the restarts and that Ralf didn't pass anybody during the yellows/safety car period...but.......
Toyota & Williams have to be very pleased at the progress they have been making...especially with learning about the various Bridgestone tires.......
Sato did a fantastic job the first 1/2 of the race in a 4-year old car.......
Michael........ what can I say....... he finally started to show some serious speed and then........... I hope he comes back very strong at Imola...... if so, that place will be rockin big time....... was there last year and wish I could be there this year.....
Alonso has the title by the scruff of the neck after only 3 races..... a most talented driver....plus what Flavio & Pat have done with the 5th or 6th largest budget in F1 this past year and 3 races is simply amazing...... Kimi and Co. should try to get the Renault seat for next year..... McLaren ( & Ilmor) have a long way to go to catch up with Le Reggie.... Alonso could be having some serious second thoughts of leaving such a good thing.....
Toro Rosso should go for those Cosworth V8 next year...... let their big brothers at Red Bull play with the Ferrari V8's........ Cosworth has the upper hand now, though it is really early in the season....
Midland.......... will be looking up at Aguri Suzuki by early August....... Toyota will be looking for somebody else to put their engines to use.....just hope that Williams stays with Cosworth....
BMW did themselves proud this weekend.....quick Nick was so most of the weekend........ shame Jacques pushed Tonio off the road, but he did score a couple of points........
The next couple of weeks will see lots of serious testing and various upgrades......... the deck will be re-shuffled but I still see Renault/Alonso holding the Aces........
I realize that I didn't mention Masa (one of my favorites) or Montoya........ but my mom taught me when I was young that if I didn't have anything nice to say about someone...then I shouldn't say anything at all............ (doesn't count when it comes to Jacques and dubya.....in case ya wanted to point out my hypocracy.....hahaha)
