Minardi is the word that unites a considerable percentage of the grid in what must be the most exciting new international motor sport series, A1GP. Now Patrick Friesacher has replaced a hapless, Mathias Lauda at Team Austria, a staggering 5 drivers on the A1GP grid have been driving for the Minardi Team at one point in their careers. Enrico Toccacelo, Team Italy, was Minardi's Friday tester in 2005. Patrick Friesacher, Team Austria, held the race seat the same year for half of the season. Alex Yoong, Team Malaysia, raced for Minardi in 2001 and 2002 and Jos Verstappen, Team Netherlands, was the one to take over from him in 2003. One has to turn back the hands of time a bit more to find the Minardi link of successful Brazilian driver Christian Fittipaldi but he made his F1 debut with the Faenza based team in 1992. They are doing well, making regular appearances in the top10. Jos Verstappen so far leads the pack by taking victory in a demanding street race in Durban, South Africa.
