Senna wins at Oulton.
Bruno Senna is the first race winner in the 2006 Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series after a dominant season opening race at Oulton Park for the Mercedes-powered Double R Racing squad.
Senna, who started from pole, benefited from three safety car periods in the thirty minute race run in dry conditions, the Brazilian making perfect restarts each time to take his untroubled victory.
Second-placed Stephen Jelley, team-mate of Senna, had to withstand slightly more pressure at the race start on the first two restarts but was able to cruise home with a comfortable second for the former Menu Motorsports driver, Jelley's first Championship class podium.
Taking third in the lead Honda-powered car was Oliver Jarvis who withstood the attentions of his Carlin Motorsport team-mate Maro Engel on the final restart. Javis kept the German at bay however, but his attentions here meant that the Double R duo ahead were able to disappear off to the extent that Jelley finished some 9 seconds ahead of Jarvis, with Senna some 1.5secs further up the road.
The winning margin of the Raikkonen Robertson Racing pairing was as much due to their superior pace as the line of cars behind Jarvis. The race's fastest lap went to Jelley with a 1min 31.093secs, whilst Senna was pushing on his final lap too, but a sideways moment at Knickerbrook was sufficient to keep his mind focused on the race win.
National class honours went the way of class pole-sitter, T-Sport's Rodolfo Gonzalez, leading home Cristiano Morgado and Juho Annala.
