The Race of Champions comes to London for the first time, after three successful years in Paris, bringing together Champion drivers from Formula 1, Rally, NASCAR, Champ Car, Le Mans, Touring Cars, Dakar Rally-Raids and X-Games, to go head-to-head in identical cars. Four thousand tons of asphalt and underlay are being used to build the track, which, since it has to fit into Wembley Stadium, if full of tight turns and steep gradients. The driving takes place on paralell tracks so from the top seats in this giant stadium, the whole event may have a surreally Scalectrix-like appearance, but with drivers like Michael Schumacher, David Coulthard, Jenson Button, Andy Priaulx and Colin McRae involved, there won't be too many cars flying off the track.
December 16th. Tickets 25 pounds.
